How these notes are written

Structure

Most notes follow the same shape: what the thing is, why it is harder than it looks, what to ask or test, where the answer misleads, and how to tell whether it worked.

The sections on what does not work are not optional. A description of trial running that omits who configures it describes a trial that measures the wrong thing.

Questions rather than features

A principle running through the collection: convert every vendor claim into a question with a checkable answer, and prefer a demonstration with your own case over an answer about a capability.

The answer to "can it handle split shifts" is always yes. The demonstration is where you find out what yes meant.

The uncomfortable material

One parallel period is not enough, and the second and third find the errors that reach payslips.

Totals reconciling is false comfort. Two errors in opposite directions produce a matching total.

Training longer than ten minutes is a configuration finding.

A correction rate near zero usually means correction is impossible, not that records are right.
